If you are one of those people that thinks that a bit of chilli improves most things, then Madame Hanoi have something for you to get very excited about.
Yep, spice lovers of Adelaide rejoice, as for the next month there is a bespoke menu created by the Madame Hanoi kitchen with you in mind. Celebrating all things chilli, the showcase menu gives you a multitude of dishes to truly fire up your taste buds.
Thanks to their wonderful generosity we were invited to experience this on the opening night, and I can hand on heart say it was everything I had hoped it to be. From the opening salvo of the Chilli Mai Tai to the last spoonful of honey chilli icecream for dessert, there was a beautiful array of dishes encompassing all different techniques, flavours and spice levels. Make no mistake – this is a properly constructed and intricate menu of chilli indulgence.
Continuing on the philosophy of their general menu, Madame Hanoi utilize fresh local ingredients as much as possible. This insistence on freshness and quality shines through, with vibrancy of textures, colours and flavours very much the order of the day.
As a chilli lover myself, this was a particularly exciting event to be part of. Picking a favourite dish from them all was a little like choosing a favourite child, but I did have a particular soft spot for the crispy chicken wings (even though one of them tried to kill us – beware the Carolina reaper sauce!) and also the SA Kingfish with fermented jalapeno. Oh, and special mention to the desserts, which also brought the spice along with the sweetness for a great end to the evening.
With a stunning venue at their disposal, a kitchen that turns out intricate yet approachable and delicious Vietnamese food, and some truly fantastic staff working the floor (honestly, their service was super friendly, knowledgeable and efficient), Madame Hanoi ticks all the boxes you could hope for. The Chilli Festival – which is running daily until 12 May – is just the icing on an already very tasty cake.
